Meet the Girls

We are 3: mother & daughters & sisters & friends.  We shared a kitchen for twenty years, under the careful oven watch and creativity of one of us named 'Mom'.  Now grown, Mom's two daughters have their own kitchens and their own recipes and their own tastebuds.

Which is why we started this blog.  We are one family, living in two countries [usa + cambodia], cooking & baking in three different kitchens.  The recipes we share are our attempt to give a piece of who we are to each other, to share ideas, and to keep our hearts in the kitchen.

Sometimes we cook out of habit & necessity.  Of course we like to host parties & bake cupcakes.  Occasionally we cook something spontaneous that we found in a magazine.

Meet Mom, aka. the greatest mother of all time.  She spent the last twenty years cooking a mix of traditional food and new-magazine food.  Dad likes his casseroles, Aimee likes her salads, and Alli likes good ol' mac and cheese.  And Mom knows how to make it all, while still adding her own 'love-touches' for special occasions: green milk for st. patty's day, muffins that look like books for the first day of school, and vegetarian specials for the years her girls experimented with food.  Her kitchen: Orangevale, CA.

Meet Alli, aka. 'Little Bite'.  The pickiest eater of the family, she is the food critic everyone can trust.  If in doubt, watch her face after the first bite of a new dish.  She loves the staples of American food: fries, grilled cheese, tomato soup, pasta with white sauce, and the like.  But she also likes exotic foods: Philippino food like 'shwarma' and Indian food.  A college student, her kitchen experience is mostly cupcakes, but oh her tasty cupcakes. Her kitchen: Riverside, CA

Meet Aimee, aka. the adventurous, health-freak, picky-but-not member of the family.  She is willing to try anything that is good for you, and that usually doesn't include meat.  She hates processed foods and loves learning how to make things from scratch.  International foods are her favorite to cook, with rice being her new favorite staple food.  She currently shops at local roadside markets for produce, and is limited without an oven.  Her kitchen: Phnom Penh, Cambodia
