I love Cambodia. I love the excitement of learning something new almost every day. I love learning the basics of where food comes from. And I love the friends who teach me.
A week ago I was introduced to a stand selling fresh, warm soy milk every morning for 12.5 cents. [Unbelievable No.1]. Yesterday my friend said she was making soy milk herself [Unbelievable No. 2!!!]. And she invited me to join her. Woo hoo!!
Before today I only knew about soy milk from cartons, but NOW I know how to make soy milk on my own. :) Check it out: it's easier than it seems!
How to Make Soy Milk
Step 1: Soak split soybeans in water overnight.
Step 2: Clean + separate soybeans.
Step 3: Add soybeans + water into a blender. Whirl!
Step 4: Drain + squeeze the blended soybeans through a cheesecloth bag.
Step 5: Repeat with all beans, 2x.
Step 6: Add water (1:3 ratio of soybeans to water), stir, and boil. Add a little salt.
Step 7: Serve with sugar to taste.
Okay so maybe I won't do this everyday, but lets see the price figures- definitely saving money this way:
1 kilo of soybeans [85 cents] + water [free], makes so many bottles!!
1 package of 6 soy milk boxes [ +$3.50].
Amazing! It's the process of making it that is so fun! I know you love that!
